With our Time Fountain fully assembled, place it in a basin or tray filled with water. For this project, we have programmed our micro-controller such that the 'stream' of water droplets shall appear to slowly flow upwards against gravity if the sensor detection path is interrupted. If you like this instructable, please vote for us in the at the end of this instruction. The 'Piddler' machine he created more than 50 years ago uses a stroboscopic technique to form optical illusions of levitating water droplets, slowing the downward flow of water as well as reversing the flow of water to move upwards to defy the laws of gravity. A stream of water can appear to bend, defy gravity, change colors, split off into multiple streams, and much more. This is because the next droplet is actually slightly higher than the previous droplet when the light comes on and we will perceive that as the same droplet moving upwards.

The video and presentation look nice and polished… the maker even remarks that the quality of the video is poor due to the fact of framerate differences, rolling shutter blablabla. To build a beautiful Time Fountain, the water droplets are to be created to be as uniform as possible in terms of shape and size and should be pumped out at rapid and precise intervals to form a steady 'stream' of water droplets. What would make this project practical is to combine it with a cat fountain. You may want to explore how to improve the quality of the stream of water droplets. It is sad to admit our Time Fountain design is not able to achieve the above requirement well but we are still very amazed with the optical illusions it can create.

Place a 3x3 of blocks with a rail in the middle and half slabs circling the rail. See also car alloys rolling in reverse. Keep things calm and try not to get too heated. The sensor comes with a long length of cable which is trimmed to around a 160mm long to fit with a short length of slack. Set flush with the ground, one would never guess at a glance that a hidden mechanism is driving the entire trick from below the surface of the landscape. Initially, we almost gave up on this project thinking it will not work at all with this setup.

No post explanation in title Do not explain how what you posted works in the title. Easily folds flat for compact storage. Water droplets are created by pumping them out of a tube at rapid and regular intervals to form a steady 'stream' of water droplets. Please don't complain if you think something isn't interesting. These kind of things look nice in noisy train stations or airports… not at home.

The effect of this time fountain and is hard to capture, but this one still looks great to us. You may design and build some fancy enclosure with a beautiful pond to hold the water instead of using a basin or tray. It's currently unclear what exactly this question is asking without clicking on the link you provided. Your mind tells you that it's impossible. Our awesome selection of hands on science toys and easy science experiments make this a great stop for all your fun science needs. I'll be purchasing one of your kits in the near future.

If you type antiparticles into the search box you can find other comments on this subject. If it sounds appalling, it was, and only got worse as the oil got gummy by accumulating dust and debris. I' don't have much knowledge on these topics so please forgive my mistakes. When the light is off, the droplet keeps falling and another replaces it. Or, if you prefer, switch to Demo Mode and let Levitating Waters entertain you. The solenoid valve can be energized to open and allow the water to flow through.

The strobe frequency can be changed via the potentiometer to create optical illusions on the flow of the water. To the observer, it looks like the water is making its way up each triangular segment, then spilling off into the corners below, and the illusion is hard to shake even once you know how it works. Combined with a sensor that makes it work when the cat comes close could improve functionality. The 60s and 70s were a great time for kitschy lighting accessories. The water droplets shall appear to levitate in mid-air. Ensure the water flow can be regulated.
